What was the NEED

Healthcare Challenges in Pakistan's Rural Areas

Pakistan's rural areas face significant healthcare challenges, with limited access to quality medical facilities, trained healthcare professionals, and essential medicines. The rural population, comprising approximately 60% of the country's total population, bears a disproportionate burden of diseases, including:

  1. High Infant Mortality Rates: Rural areas have higher infant mortality rates due to limited access to prenatal care, skilled birth attendants, and emergency obstetric services.
  2. Maternal Health: Women in rural areas face increased risk of maternal mortality and morbidity due to lack of access to quality antenatal care, skilled birth attendants, and emergency obstetric services.
  3. Communicable Diseases: Rural areas have higher incidences of communicable diseases such as malaria, tuberculosis, and diarrheal diseases due to inadequate access to clean water, sanitation, and hygiene facilities.
  4. Non-Communicable Diseases: The prevalence of non-communicable diseases like hypertension, diabetes, and cardiovascular diseases is increasing in rural areas, exacerbated by limited access to healthcare services and healthy lifestyle options.
  5. Mental Health: Rural areas have limited access to mental health services, leading to a significant burden of untreated mental health disorders.
Barriers to Healthcare
  1. Geographical Constraints: Rural areas are often remote, with limited transportation options, making it difficult for people to access healthcare facilities.
  2. Financial Constraints: Poor economic conditions and lack of health insurance limit access to healthcare services for rural communities.
  3. Limited Healthcare Infrastructure: Rural areas have inadequate healthcare facilities, shortages of trained healthcare professionals, and insufficient essential medicines.
Establishing a Hospital for Poor People in Rural Areas

To address these healthcare challenges, we are establishing a hospital in rural Pakistan, dedicated to providing quality healthcare services to poor people.

  1. Provide Access to Quality Healthcare: We will offer comprehensive healthcare services, including emergency care, surgical services, and specialized care.
  2. Train Healthcare Professionals: We will train local healthcare professionals to ensure sustainable healthcare delivery.
  3. Promote Health Education: We will conduct health education programs to raise awareness about healthy lifestyles, disease prevention, and management.
  4. Ensure Affordability: We will provide subsidized healthcare services, ensuring that poor people have access to quality healthcare.

Our hospital aims to bridge the healthcare gap in rural Pakistan, empowering communities to lead healthier lives.
